    Hi Guys

    Also busy with control panel.
    Would this PID combo work?

Where did you guys buy yours?

    Hi Rukon, welcome.

I would not go for a thermocouple because of accuracy. Rather use a RTD probe (PT100) which means that the PID may not be compatible.

Have a look through this site http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/

I have one exactly like that, my only issue is finding a thermowell to fit the thermocouple into. If anybody has any suggestions?

A K-type thermocouple has a rated accuracy of 2,2oC whereas a class A PT100 is 0,15oC. For brewing a PT100 is definitely the way to go.

I used this PID with 0,2% accuracy http://www.taie.co.za/taieshop/index...ipjics1sq3f2k7

I got mine from here http://www.auberins.com/index.php?ma...products_id=84 . But you can get them locally, you should update your profile to show your location then it is easier to help.

The cheapest locally available PID I could find is the Rhomberg TC410 from ACDC Dynamics. And Temperature Controls can manufacture probes to spec.

The REX-C100 PID controller is a very cheap device and you should be able to get one to RSA for less than R250 - Cheap enough to sommer buy three just for incase!

They come in different variants and some of them will be able to work with a RDT-style probe. Just read the descriptions and you should be OK. You want something with a model number of REX-C100FDXX or REX-C100FPXX. Some of them are supposedly able to handle multiple types of probes.

AliExpress has a massive selection here http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?...hText=rex-c100 that you can look at.

I have purchased many things from there so I'd say it's reasonably safe. Just do not expect it to arrive any time soon. I'm talking at least two months after order! And with this post office strike going on this might even take longer...
                For things I'm selling:
                - I can be contacted at homebrewer at dline dot co dot za
                - I am located in Pretoria East
                - I am always open to reasonable offers, especially if you are picking up more than one thing I'm selling.

I don’t know if I am allowed to mention it but in the next month or two all Auberins equipment (PID, sensors, switches) etc will be available locally. All products will come with a 90 day warranty.

Be careful, make sure they have SSR outputs. Seems people may be getting conned.
