My Krausen is bigger than yours

Another lesson on the way to my brewing degree, Abbey WLP530 is a very active yeast. Made a mistake by stepping up to a 1,4l starter in a 2l flask, lost a good amount of yeast but still had plenty for pitching and stealing a few billion for next time.

The carboy is 25l with 9l of headroom. I eventually had to rig a blow-off and it made use of it during the night. Truly amazing stuff.

But it does look pretty!

My fermenters are plastic buckets, so I have not had the pleasure of seeing the yeast work.
