    Hey guys,

So i got myself a Stir plate, where do you get the stir bars from? I think I saw one for sale on a SA site, but I have no idea where it was.

All our LHBS have them, or ScienceWorld

Builders warehouse sells them... in the Nail section, ask for Hilti nails. They are just metal bars with no head. Works a charm

Fun thing: If you use the copper ones and you forget to remove them when you pour your yeast into the fermenter, they come out a new color! I assume the yeast eats the copper.

I can't find a good pic of the nails. Here is the closest I can get so far.

Not that I have seen. Considering the yeast eat all(most) of the oxygen, the metal should be safe for the two weeks. And then re-used.

so my stir plate arrived, and I got the bar, working like a charm. How long do you guys leave it on the stir plate? until fermentation is done?
I put a Lager yeast on it yesterday afternoon, having some nice krausen/head atm. looking to pitch tomorrow evening or Monday morning.
