  • Yeast for Porter/Stout

    Hi Everyone

I love brewing porters/stouts and experimenting with them, but I want to start giving attention to yeast as I have never done that before, I usually just buy the NFP Beer Brewing Yeast at national food products and off I go.

I see all these different kinds of yeast, but I am looking for some opinions on them.
    Any recommendations?

To keep it simple, I would like to use the https://www.beerlab.co.za/collections/yeast website for reference as they have a small variety, unless anyone has any other sites to point me to for yeast...

Edit: I see I was lazy to ready and opening links

For more authentic British yeast profile go for the Fermentis Safale S-04 or Danstar Nottingham Ale yeasts.

If you want a more neutral yeast character go for the Fermentis Safale US-05.

    These are all good yeasts.

As above. S-04 for an english profile and US-05 for a generic profile.
