I found my mistake. Kegs not as clean as they should be. That problem has been addressed. Now I just need to wait to the latest one to finish carbonating so that I can taste and prove that I did a proper job this time.

43*0.054=2.3l of 100% alc. Say a 500 ml loss to heads and tails. 1.7 l of 100% gives 3.7 l of 45%. I would try it in the still. The numbers is theoretical and you may have more losses but......

          • I brewed the Cascadian/Black IPA recipe from Beerlab's website on Sunday. I think this is the most active fermentation I have had to date. It is almost purring like an Isuzu diesel engine
            Cheers

Yes I'll do the rest. My wife tried to make some balsamic concoction with 5L which was a total waste of time and effort.

My stocks are running low anyway, and I have some double-distill that needs a 3rd distill because Einstein here was playing with oak chips and the taste of boiled wood needs to be distilled out...........

              • Four weeks ago I brewed an American Amber. Loads of hops!

[Insert story about getting hops that were not stored well and quite old]

Yes... I used old hops in the beer.

It is a very nice Scottish 80/- !

Almost no bitterness, just nice and malty!

                Sometimes accidents are awesome!

                          • Today I'm attempting my first clone brew. A Partial mash sierra nevada clone. If it turns out good I will stick the recipe in the recipes section. My thermometer was acting up so almost did not brew, but started working just before the point of no return. Seems Aegir smiled upon me this day. Nay body else brewing?

I'm trying to get my Lager smackpack going before I brew but it is taking its jolly time. I'm thinking of doing a saison instead this week and then the Lager next week.
