  • You could leave it at 30+, but I prefer to drop to 25c when adding the dh which I usually do after three days after pitch, dhing it for 2-3 days max. I'm not sure about bottling, but if you keg, you should make it

Some interesting things to read up on when you're bored is hop creep ( https://brewersassoc.s3.us-west-2.am...ical-Brief.pdf )and biotransformation ( https://www.lallemandbrewing.com/wp-...-digital-1.pdf ) and ( https://brulosophy.com/2017/01/23/bi...iment-results/ )

Yeah I need to bottle.. So more time spent. I'll be fine to chance it and then not be properly bottle conditioned by Christmas... As long as I don't spoil it for new years.

        • maybe bottle half the batch now with dextrose and leave at room temp - it'll be fine by xmas - then dry hop the remaining in the fermentor and bottle 3-4 days later. You'll have beer for xmas and a DH comparrison batch by New Years .. wooo hoo

I put my dh into mesh bags .. otherwise they make a big mess and you'll have lots of wastage.. and sanitise those bags !! or anything that goes inside the fermentor now.

Brilliant idea.. Will split it and do the bags. Cheers!

              • I've got mesh bags of say 30cm square and have rigged fishing line round the edge - put hops inside and pull the string tight with a simple knot (you want to open it again without cutting the bag moertoe). I have some large stainless steel washers that I add to the bag to drag the bag down - otherwise it just floats at the top. I guess large ballbearing (think when I was still played marbles we called them a ghoen) would be even better.

                • I have a 400micron ss hoptube I used, but prefer to just chuck them in loose. The cold crash and finings take care of the rest
